Can you guys let me know if we can claim refunds on house rent with income tax returns?

I was also thinking the same way...house rent cant be claimed in US federal tax returns..only mortgage payments can
But one of my friend was mentioning about house rent..

Like Murali said, you can't claim any return in federal tax but you might have a return in your state tax. I got some return for my house rent in NJ. Check with someone who knows about your state's taxation laws.
