I have a one month old and trying to get a US passport for her. The website says that we need the birth certificate of both parents to prove the relationship with the child. Is there any other document that we could use instead of the birth cerficate to prove the relationship wiht the child.
Also how should we take the photos for her ?
THanks

The birth certificate is required along with the Social Security number. The BC is normally available from the city office after about 4 to 6 weeks.
Photo requirments are same as for anybody else. Since it is hard to hold the baby's neck while having the baby in a seated position, I would recommend waiting for one more month before applying for passport. But any good private studios can do the photo.

To apply for US passport you don't have to submit birth certificates of the parents. US driver license of parents/passports of parents are enough for proof. You need to have the birth certificate of the child and it will have parents name in it.
You can apply for US passport in some post offices and they will take the photographs of your kid for an additional charge.
