Hello, Please advice me if I need to take Transit visa(or something similar) to fly over Netherlands(I have change of flight in Amsterdam). I have my H1B visa expired in my passport. However I have valid documents to get visa stamped in India to come back.
Thanks in advance

Normally the rule is, if your visa has expired, then you need a transit visa if you are flying via an European city...
So even though you have the papers for stamping but not the actual visa stamp; you should get a transit visa.
You might want to reconfirm with your airline just to be on the safer side!

Have a good trip home!

As a followup to the query I posted a while back, after checking with the airlines and also Netherlands embassy website I learned that people traveling with Indian passport, staying less than 12hrs in Amsterdam airport do not need Transit visa. Please let us know if anybody has a different experience.

No you don't need it if you will be within the airport and don't go out. My husband just went to India by North West Airlines..He stopped in netherlands and changed flights there..but he wasn't required to have any transit visa.
