my mother's visa got rejected

Hi,
I am on H1 extension and recently my mother's visa got rejected. Now I am applying for my mother-in-laws' visa. So, which one is better sponsored or self sponsored visa? Also, what is the minimum account balance one has to show for self sponsered visa because she is not able to show more than 5 lakhs.
What are the documents required for self-sponsored visa?

You can be the sponsor.
Your Mom's last rejection has nothing to do with sponsorship, I think.
