Debit collection.

I returned back to India in June 2002 after my one year job assignment in USA. Just recently my ex-company HR had send several letters to my Indain address, which the got for me. Of which some are hospital bills and collection company letters. Really, I did not know I owe to the hospital. The hospital referred to collection company. Collection comopnay, in turn send letters to me to my ex-company address in USA. But my company did not send those letters in time. Now, Could not even make payment to the collection company. I do not want my name be listed in the collection company. I want pay back to them, to clear my name.
I would like to know, what would be the impact in case if I write to the collection company explaining the fact. Please advise.

Nothing will happened. Ask them take that money from US gov. , which they tokk as your social security from your paycheck. Why Gov. don't pay us our money back. Why we pay them...Have fun.. enjoy..Nothing will happened. Lots of people live in US those are not paying Hospital , credit cards, & all other kind of bills. They can't do any thing. maximum they can report to credit buero..Who cares about credit report while you are not in US.

Hey call collection company and talk to them explan the situation they will take care.I was having a same situation .Even after paying the hospital had done the debit collection and i talked to the collection agency and the problem got resolved.If the problem is not resolved then it will be a bad history for you for atleast 7 years...Thanks

I was having similar problem reg my hospital payment but i was residing in US .. If u are not coming to usa anymore then u no need to worry about these things .. otherwise it will be a bad cerdit history by the time u enter usa..


we have negotiated more than 3 yrs with the collection agency for $12000 .. This was not paid by insurance as the doctors are not participated in my plan .. we fight for 3 yrs and made the insurance to pay off those bills and these were covered due to emergency care provided by the hospital during my daughters preterm birth ..
