I see a lot of forums for ppl who are travelling to the USA for the first time and h1 revalidation. I see that most of the documents/questions/worries/cautions/red flags are the same for all parties. However, am confused with "unemployment wage documents", "client letters", "company tax returns", and "list of employees" etc. i have no idea what an "unemployment wage doc" or "client letter" is. I am not sure if even we (f1 to h1) have to take these docs along. As per my understanding, the following is the comprehensive list of docs for us. If i am wrong, someone please correct me. i have my appt at chennai in 3 weeks! and am sure your response will be useful for many who visit this site. Thanks!
FILE 1
[Basic requirement for entry]
1. Appointment Letter Invitation that they mail after you make your
online reservation (Make the reservations at "nvars . com" - Atleast
give 2 months of time for this)
2. DS-156 application form with a single 2" x 2" photo affixed (Fill
this online as it generates a Bar code for faster processing)
3. DS-157 (only for male applicants)
4. USD 100 in cash/moneyOrder/certifiedCheck
5. Passport (Old/New - all passports - Should have the I-94 cards on it)
FILE 2
[Employement Verification, US address verification and checking Legal status]
1. Letter of Employment (Ask HR for the Employment Verification Letter
- Should include date hired, salary and position)
2. Pay Stubs (have the latest 3 ready) - Preferable to maintain
atleast a year long of paystubs
3. I - 797
4. Copy of LCA
5. Complete copy of I - 129 petition that you will recieve from your lawyer.
6. Tax Documents - W2 Forms
7. Latest Bank Statement - Online is also fine
8. Any utility Bill (phone bill - shows the address in the US)
9. Resume
FILE 3
[Verification of qualification for H1 B Distinguished Merit Visa]
1. US Degree Diploma
2. US Degree Transcript
3. Bachelors Degree Diploma from India
4. Bachelors Degree All transcripts
5. Other Computer Certificates
FILE EXTRA
[These are some miscellaneous items]
1. Social Security Card
2. OLD EAD PT - Card, the expired one
3. Your Staff ID
4. Old I-20s
