Hi,

My in laws recently went to Chennai for Visitors visa. The CO asked the following questions and I also gave my parents response

1) Does your kid have a green card : no ( my wife sponsored them for visa )
2) how many kids do you have : 2 (1 daughter and 1 Son )
3) where is your son : he is also in US and working for XXXX company and stays in XXXX
4) What do you do : my father in law gave his letter from employer sanctioning his vacation.
( he works as GM for a small private finance firm )

Immediately after that the CO said according to US rules we cannot give you the visa . they were rejected with a 214(B)

They did not look at a single document we sent we made sure we followed all the steps listed in this website. Below are my questions what precautions we should take next time when they go for the interview.

Should we make sure that next time they go individually instead of as a couple ????

Next time when they ask if all kids are in US we are planning to answer NO .
Is that ok or does the Consulate keep a record of the reason for previous refusals ????

They went for their interview in last week of jan-07 we are planning to book there next interview in first week of March-07. Is that advisable or too soon ??? Should we wait longer before we go for the next interview ???

Please advise.

thanks in advance .

you can book the appointment even within three months gap.
That doesn't matter a lot.

consulate keeps track of your previous answers. so don't give a different answer second time.

this time ask for only two months duration of stay. If they ask for the reason
ask your DAD to get a letter from your company saying that he is having important meeting which he should attend. so he can't stay more than
2 months.
