Hello All,
My mom is a school teacher and my dad has a business. I am trying to bring them to USA. My mom don't even have a passport. She said its hard for her to get passport as her officials are giving tough time. She is going to try one more time this week. Once she gets the passport, does she have to formally apply for a leave? is there any preferred format for the leave letter? I read in some threads about NOC. What is it? Please kindly share if you have any info on visa procedure for government employees.

Regards,
SK

Yes she need to have NOC ( No objection Certificate)
NOC is a known by any Organization and there is no standard format, when she ask for it to her boss, they can provide. Bascially it is statement that " Office has no objection for her USA trip".
Letter of leave is also an important documents, she needs to take from her office.

Murali, Thanks a bunch for the quick reply. I just called my mom and asked her to get the NOC. Also, she told me that she will apply for a medical/sick leave (for 3 months) to come to USA. My question is if she show the medical leave application/approval to visa officer, they might question. Correct? Do you have any suggestions on how to handle the situation?

In Medical Leave you are not supposed to travel. You need to apply Personal Leave or Leave on Loss Of Pay.

Hai all,
I am sponsoring visitor's visa for my mother, she is a rheumatoid arthritis patient, so she cannot stand for a long time, i remember when i had applied for my F1 visa i was standing in a long queue before the consulate, i would like to know from your experiences if there is any options like sitting benches and or separate queue for older people and for those who cannot stand for long time in queue, please let me know. Thanking you in advance - Madhuri

I heard that consulate folks take VERY GOOD care of old people and ladies with kids. So, don't worry!
