Hi

I am coming to US, nect month.
My wife travelled earlier to USA(1 yr back) and have SSN.
He has paid the electricity and other bills butIthink paid by cash.

Now she applied for mobile, he get the answer you credit history is zero.

I want to know if she has some credit history or not as she paid the bills/rent etc. But not through credit card.

How credit history is build in USA and if the above bills she is carrying can be of use OR can be of any help ?

your wife can pull her credit report for free from freecreditcheck.com, u can get one credit report from all the three agencies for free in one calendar yr. she needs to apply for a small charge card like a macys' card and then slowly build up credit- even using ur banks' debit card as credit hlps. dp make sure to make all paymnts & outstanding blanaces.

for now she can get the mobile for a deposit/ get a pay as u go mobile.

Follows these steps :

1. Get yor credit report from all 3 agencies doesn't matter if you have to buy them.

2. After about 15 days apply for Capital One Card New to Credit Card History , you will get it with 300$ limit and your credit history will be started.

Or there is one more way.

After you get your credt history report.

2. Apply for a credit card with DCU.org they will ask you to take their membership . You can open a saving account with them for 5$ . They may ask for your income evedences. They will provide you a card with very good limit.

To get a phone without credit history , You can try for Sprint with 125$ deposit, which they return you after one year.

Hope this will solve your problem.
