Hi,

Mine is a peculiar case. I attended for H1-B interview in Chennai consulate on Nov 6th and my case was put under AAP. They have kept I797, I129 and client letter with them. I have sent couple of mails to consulate and I got reply saying “your case is still under pending and once it is completed we will get back to you”.
I had valid B1 visa for 10 years and I visited US in the month of FEB this year.
Now my question is can I go to US and change my status from B1 to H1? Is there any chance of changing my B1 status to H1?
Please suggest.

Changing a status from B1 - H1 is kind of difficult. When u enter in US on B1 that means ur intention is not to work in US. but when u apply for H1 that means u do want to work and they can very well deny ur approval for H1 COS. Also i read somewhere that @ POE, if IO knows that u have a H1 approved then they may send u back to get H1 and re-enter again, eventhough looks like its rare.
