Hi guys,

My parents both below 60 have never travelled outside India before. They went for their U.S visa interview this week and got rejected because my dad applied for a 6 month visa and had a leave of absence certificate for 4 months from work.( That is the offical reason , the lady told my dad he has lost his credibility ???????? WHat the f97898 is that supposed to mean)

Now what should they do ?

The reason they applied for 6 months is that now I am on a h-1 visa and I wanted them to stay with me for some time?

Should they go again and try another time this time applying for 30 days ?

They have enough finances to sponsor the trip. ALso they were rejected under 214-b. Please let me know what you think of this situation and what they should do.

I am graduating on the 22nd of May and its only till then that they can come to visit me using that reason.

Please post your opinions and advice.

This is a common mistek people do. the NOC /and leave of absence must match the duration of stay you are asking to visit USA.
I would say apply again with taking care of such things and hopefully they should get the visa.

Thanks for your prompt reply, This time around I am planning to sponsor them , send them all the documents mentioned on this site. I have two questions that I need your opinion on , no one can really say what will happen but I dont want to commit a stupid mistake again.

1. They are going to say duration of visit is 30 days , and take a NOC of 30 days.

if the interviewer asks why has it suddenly been reduced.
Answer: because we want to attend my childs graduation at any cost we have decided to shorten the trip and see only the north eastern side of the coutry this time. Also becoz we have less time to prepare now.

2. In the ds-156 form where they ask who will sponsor ?
Should I write my name this time that I am sending all the docs and sponsor letter? I am contemplating to write both my name and my dad's name there. What do you suggest ?
Everywhere else I hae mentioned I will support them completely like its on your site.

3. Why were you rejected the first time ?
Answer : I beleive we did nto have enough supporting documents to prove that our intentions were to only visit the country.

Please Help me out with these questions.

Thanks again

1. Sounds OK, this seems to be a genuine answer.
2. I am not sure what your are tring to ask?
3. Sounds good.

Now, no matter what you answer , each case is different its own and depends on so many other things that a officer can better judge, so dont think too much just follow the process and well prepared for the interview. rest is luck !

WHat I am trying to ask is , who should sponsor the trip this time. In the ds-156 form where they have asked the questions , Who will pay for the trip , what should be written.
