:( Hi All,

My H1B approved on October 20, 2006 ,and am waiting for my employer to receive the approval notice from the consulate.
Meanwhile, I have a doubt and i am very worried on that. Please help me out with similar experiences.
I am a B.E. passed out in 2000, however my previous employer lost my original degree certificate and so I had applied for a provisional from my college in Bangalore. The problem is that the college has given me a new degree certificate with year of pass-out 2004. Now the real problem arises when the visa officer compares my experience with my degree cert.
Am real worried, what to do,. my college university is totally closed now and i cannot get back to them.
.
Can I jus show the provisional certificate(with correct year of passing 2000) and explain the truth to the visa officer, or jus produce the new degree certificate(with year of passing 2004) and explain if he wants to know.
.
Senior members pls help, anybody facing a similar situation?
Wil my visa be rejected becoz of this. Please help.
Thanx Bye

Hi,

If your case has been approved on 20th Oct, your petitioner(employer) should have got the approval notice by this time. Talk to your employer and find out whether they have received it or not.

I could not understand how did your previous employer lost your degree certificate. If you have applied for a duplicate degree certificate with your university then they should have issued the certificate with the correct year of passing. I advice you to contact your university and get the duplicate certificate correct.

VO/CO will definetly ask for the original degree certificate. If you have only BE and no masters degree then definetly he will ask for the Original certificate. If you say them that you previous employer has lost the certificate and your university has done some mistake then it will definetly give room for suspicsion. Why give room for those things, get the correct certificate from your university.
