Hi,

I am trying to bring my parents to USA. My problem is we dont have my birth certificate. Unfortunately municipality doesnot have my birth record. we enquired the hospital and been told it may take some time for them to trace out my information. What i would like to know is whether my parents can attend the interview
without the birthcertificate producing my passport copy where my parents name are there as proof
provide vo officer with any affidavit
or tell them they can produce the certificate on later date (i have heard from my friend that some case will be put on hold till they submit the document ..they will be provided the visa but final approval only after they produce teh certificate/doc) is it true?

please help URGENTLY

Thanks in advance

cheers,
Arun

You can get your birth certificate from any Indian Consulate General in the US by paying nominal fee and showing your original passport. This certificate is valid every where.

Actually, USCIS and US State Dept (embassy + consulate) do not recongnize birth certificate from Indian consulate. Indian birth certificate should be from local municipal/village authority.

Many people had trouble in green card applications when they submitted birth certificate issued by Indian consulate. USCIS and consulates specifically wanted birth certificates from local authorities.

Birth certificate based on passport does not make sense because the passport information is based on birth certificate. It's like chicken-egg situation.

As a replacement of birth certificate you can provide following:

- affidavit from your parents on stamped papers
- school leaving certificate
- picture of you and your parents together

Thanks all

"2. provide vo officer with any affidavit

or
3. tell them they can produce the certificate on later date (i have heard from my friend that some case will be put on hold till they submit the document ..they will be provided the visa but final approval only after they produce teh certificate/doc) is it true?"

is affidavit should accompany the "Not available certificate from municipal office - stating my bc not available" or just the affivadit will do?

or any idea/comments on my 3 point??

Cheers,
Arun

Don't wait for birth certificate or non-availability of certificate. Ask your parents to attend interview with affidavits, copy of your school certificate and pictures. There is a good chance that VO won't check these documents. Then why wait?
