I applied for B1 / B2 visa for the first time, haven’t been to US before me or my wife.. wanted to vist my In-Laws at Christmas and new-year.... oh oh wrong season...

make sense since Im living in riyadh from 6 years,

i have a good job! my brother & sister are also here since long time... they went, got visa's many times..

My wife came to riyadh 6 months back, relatively new...

Question VO asked

took the finger prints for both of us... and started with me first..

VO : Why do you want to visit US..

Me : Would like to spend some good time at our first anniversary, feel the snow, after tiring summer here

VO : how long you have been working here
Answer: 6 years

VO : asked about job
Answer: explained her...

VO: countries visited
Answer: Singapore, Dubai

VO: for
Answer: Business, want to start partnership with a so and so firm.....

VO: but your passport is filled with stamps
Answer: been back and forth home (india)

VO: where did you do schooling
Answer: all in india

Questions with my wife.

VO: How long you have been living here
Answer: 6 months

VO: when did you get married married
Answer: Jan 2006

VO: do you work?
Answer no

VO: do you teach ?
Answer: no, homemaker

VO: asked about her family in us
Answer: She replied all truth, her brother and sister are citizens there

VO: What is the job of your husband?
Answer: she describe, but not technically

VO: Where is ur husbands family
Answer: here in riyadh

then she call us together and said, unfortunately you do not qualify now, come back and apply when u have strong social ties here....

felt disgusted, said all truth, our major ties are in india... i have no reason's to stay there illegally, i make good enough money here...
at least cant drive a BMW there being a outstayer or illegal... im proud of my nationality i will go back home(india) from here!

Guys... Question

Have we said anything wrong? Please suggest

Im thinking of applying again in may 2007.. this time im thinking to make of all things and lies, for showing social ties.

do they keep any records about the last interviews, what we have said in interview or from the forms ??

thanks,
Tameem

There is nothing to be disgusted. After all it's just an visa. Nothing more than that. If you are living happily, who cares if US consulate does not grant you visa. If are earning enough money, probably you can spend vacation and visit anywhere in the world. There are two main key factors played against you.

1. You are just married 6 months back. Officer did not consider you as well-settled in Riyadh. Probably she was thinking that after getting married probably you are looking for other opportunities - probably in USA through/with the connections/help of your borther-in-law. This perception will change after a few years.

2. You are Indian nationality but living in Riyadh. That means you are already a person who does not have enough ties to his native country India. In addition you don't have enough tie in Riyadh either. This factor played against you.

As you see, if you either live couple of more years in Riyadh or return back to India, the above two factors won't be a problem.

Not getting visa does not mean that the applicant said something wrong. It only means that visa officer did not consider applicant qualified enough to get visa - at this moment. As she indicated, this willc hange after a few years - once you have enough ties to Riyadh/India.

Longer you wait, better chances you have getting visa. In addition, you need to do some homework how to convey visa officer that you are not a potential immigrant (i.e. have enough ties to Riyadh or India).
