Passport delivery related Q.. pls help

We have given our relative's address for delivering the passports. My parents cleared the interview and went back to native (12 hrs from chennai). While delivering passports at the given address, do they need my parents to be present?

Due to health issues, I can't keep pulling my parents to chennai. Is there any other way to handle this?

I believe that they don't have to be present at the address to collect the passport. my sister and moms passport were mailed to my dad's office address and they did not ask anything while delivering the passport.
