People in India think tha the life in the USA is a great thing. But, we are just passing most of the time in work place, W-marts and K-marts etc.

As we cant go to night life as native americans, we cant enjoy the real american life here.

Most of the desis in here do worry about savings as we came from such a community.

I heard that in NJ area, people re-use the paper towels.

Anyone can comment on whats going-on with these things and why do people behave like this?.

U can mail me also at my rediffmail with this mail-id for any debate.

thanks

Hi Manohar,
You may see many Indian people in Walmart, K-mart etc., but that doesn't mean that there are no Indian having fun in a different way.

One way to look at this is following. If we talk only about young Indians, we can make two groups of them:

1. People who came here as students and are now working
2. People who have come here directly on H1 to work

I have observed that it is the 2nd group which behaves the way you have potrayed. Many Indian in 1st group do manage to do other things. It may be because the direct H1s have following issues:
1. they don't have cars. So, they can ask their seniors only for trips to grocery stores and malls.
2. they only hang out with other newly arrived indians, and don't really hang out with other people to explore other activities.
3. I agree, saving money may be contributing too.

I guess, it is fair to say that you will find all kinds of people if you look closely. It may not be easy to make a general statement.
