Hello All, I have my neice in USA(a GC holder) married to a US Citizen 2 years back. My neice has a decent job but still not enough to show a good bank balance. Her husband who is well settled and can show the required bank balance easily. I am planning to visit them on visitor visa - Now who can be my best sponsor?? My neice or her husband?

Husband.
Hello, Thanks for the reply. What if the VO asks me 'Why is the niece NOT the sponsor?'. Would this be a eligible if I say 'She is not earning enough' ?

I doubt this question will be asked, but you can say "He is the primary income earner of the household. That's why he is sponsoring.". In general, if your niece and her husband are living under same roof (not separated or divorced), it's a very minor issue and Vo is not going to ask this question.

However, I am sure you are aware of the fact that you need to establish your relationship with your niece first (normally your niece's birth certificate, her parents birth certificate and your birth certificate will do). In addition, she can provide her marriage certificate to establish relationship with her husband.

Thank you very much for this advise.
1. Do i need an original of niece birth certificate or a copy will do?
2. Her mother does not have a birth certificate, but her father has one will this be ok? OR can i show them parents passport copies??
3. And i too do not have a birth certificate can i make do with my school leaving certificate??
4. As we live in a joint family we still have my niece name on the 'Ration Card' will this be more helpfull?
