Hi Jaya, Murali

My mom's visa got rejected in Aug 2006, no reason given. The reason for the visit was shown as tourism, though in real I was pregnant and expecting a baby. The baby was delivered on Aug 13th and the visa got rejected on Aug 16th.
My question is when we apply for the VISA again and send the new paper work mentioning our new baby as a dependent and showing the reason as tourism again, won't they match the previos answers and will figure out the truth (because of the age of the baby) and will know that the reason for the previous visit was not tourism but delivery.

Should we mention our new baby or not?
The reason this time is purely tourism and family visit.

Thans a ton in advance for analysing my situation

Yes, they can match. But you cannot do anything about it.

You should mention it. Otherwise you can be in trouble in long term. I have two suggestions:

1. Be upfront about your baby. Your mom should tell officer that she would like to see her cute grand-daughter very badly. Who does not want to see her little cute grand-daughter? Make argument that as you are not planning to visit India within one year (because baby is too small and can be difficult to travel long journey from USA to India), your mom visiting USA is the only option. She just can't wait one year to see her grand-daughter. Prepare documents (letters) and possible interview Q&A accordingly.

2. Keep the visiting period very short. I would recommand not more than one month. This will demonstrate that your mom is not visiting for babysitting.

Always keep in mind that even though rejection due to "baby-reason" is very common, but it totally depends on how your mom presents the case in front of officer. Prepare accordingly. Being upfront about baby will show that you and your mom are very honest about it. If you and your mom can demonstrate honesty and openness to visa officer, your mom already scored points for getting visa.

What sould they say if the officer ask them about the reason given at the previous interview?
He may ask.. why did you lie in your previous interveiw OR
...Why was your VISA rejected last time OR
... Were you really going for tourism last time?

Please help me with these questions. Jaya pls give your comments too

why did you lie in your previous interveiw OR

Nobody lied. The previous visa application was for tourism and social purpose.

...Why was your VISA rejected last time OR

In original post you mentioned that no reason was given. Therefore the answer will be "don't know".

... Were you really going for tourism last time?

Yes. Definitely.
