I had an interview yesterday for a non immigrant visa from London( have an Indian passport). It was approved but i was asked to pay the Visa Issue fee of 50$ per application. Would you let us know where you got this info?

I think it does not apply to US consulates at UK.

Definitely a good news for visitors. No more hassle for demand drafts.

Your close friend could wait on till the interview is finished and act accordingly. He could get the DD canceled any time. Maybe by then, all the consulate websites will be updated with the latest news.

My parents appeared for interview on Nov 8th in Chennai and they got the visitor visa. My parents carried DD with them but consulate returned DDs saying that no need to pay Visa issuance fee.

my dad went for his visa stamping (B2) on Nov 9th to chennai consulate and he got it without any hassle. my mom already has a visa to USA, so my dad went alone for visa. according to my parents(my mom was waiting outside the consulate chatting with others) everyone present there got visa. it is a good news that things are changing at Chennai consulate.

Questions asked:
1. What do you do?
2. How many kids?
3. What is your daughter doing in USA?
I did not send bank verification letter. Instead i printed all the statements online.
