I would like to share my stamping experience in New Delhi Consulate on 26th October. And thanks to posts on this forum I was able to prepare well.

This is how things went for me:

My appointment was at 0930 hrs and I reached the Consulate at 0845. The security guard asked for my appointment letter, double checked it with my name in his list, and then I was allowed in a queue which runs parallel to the consulate front wall and this is where there is a counter on the wall itself where a VFS personnel asks for your DS forms, I-797, Passport, Appointment letter, HDFC receipts and Bank Draft. He will just return the pink HDFC receipt and the green one is stapled along with the DD and I-797 WITH the PASSPORT in the order I-797, Green HDFC receipt and the DD. The VFS personnel will also verify if you are carrying a 2400/- DD or not. Next we enter the consulate building. I guess there are enough posts on the procedure let me come down straight to Q/A with VO:

VO: Could you please pass on your papers
Me: Sure.

VO: For how long you were in US before?
Me: 11 Months 12 Days.

VO: You have any relatives in US?
Me: No.

VO: Where is your employer located?
Me: XXX State, XXX City.

VO: How did you found this job?
Me: Dice.com.

VO: Do you know no. of employees there?
Me: Around 125.

VO: Do you know how much you'll be paid?
Me: Yes madam, 60000$ per annum.

VO: Is the company owned by an Indian?
Me: Yes Madam, Its owned by YYY. But he's an American Citizen.

VO: OK.

VO: How long you have worked in <Name of the current co.>?
Me: 4 Months.

VO: Before that?
Me: <My last co. name>.

VO: Do you know the name of the client in US?
Me: No Madam. My employer has a project lined up for me there. I don't know the details.

By this time she has already approved my visa as I can see her writing across my DS-156. She didn't ask for any other paper. Nothing at all. She asked a last question while handing my papers back.

VO: Which university you went to?
Me: Madam, I did XXX from YYY.

VO: OK. You'll get your passport in few days. Have a nice trip.
Me: Thank you madam.

That was it. Though I had read so many posts where VO asks for lotsa documents, but in my case nothing was asked for. I guess CONFIDENCE was the key. Also, I didn’t ask her to repeat any question like many others were doing in front of me.

Hope this will be helpful in your preparation. If you have any question, post a question to me. Wish you luck.

so now even though u did not mention client letter or project document,
or project details...u got the visa just because u have already been
to US once?

Yeah...but its not because I've been there already. Actually I had discussed this with my employer in detail. He told me that

"it depends on the repo of the sponsor. We are in good books of USCIS. So you simply say the we have a project lined up for you. And if they ask for details, request them to contact us."

The HR Co-ordinator was very confident and told me that in past they have never faced problem on this issue. I just went ahead as per his directions...

seems that i too would not get any project document as my
employer is a "software consultant", i spoke to him 2 days back...

i told him that for h1 b stamping, the question "what is your project
there? is it inhouse or client ? show me the project document..
if client place, then give me client letter...."

these questions are as common as "tell me your name..."

he says that since he is software consulting firm...and not a s/w
company..he cannot issue any project document...and that i should

say " after i get my visa, depending upon my date of arrival, i may
work at one of the compan's clients....or i may work for the company"

and this i should say very CONFIDENTLY....he said they will observe
only our expressions when we say something....if said confidently..
visa will be done.

but when i asked him, what to say for the question , "tell me about
your project ?".....at fist he said there was no proper answer...and if
i get a 221(g), then we will see...but at the end he said, "ok, theres
a project.. i will talk to my mgmt and let u know by this week end"

my question for u is......assuming the following:

1) there is no project doc....but i can explain what the project is

2) there is no client letter

3) there is no project doc + i dont know what the project is

what is the best way to answer in such a situation and get the visa?

this is entirely your call... if you don't have any details you can very well say "My employer has a project lined up for me once I join them." It worked in my case...but nobody's certain. Once you give project details..VO might asks for documents too...

It also depends on the VO... her thought process...questions she asks...

better you thrash it out with your employer..you both are stake-holders. But whatever you decide, be CONFIDENT in your reply. All the best.
