hi,

I booked visa appointment for my parents for Feb'07. Two days before I received an e-mail from USVFS saying that : Embassy/Consulates have opened up several thousand seats for the month of OCT- DEC to cater to the demand. If you wish to take an earlier appointment, you may cancel your existing appointment and then schedule a fresh appointment to an earlier date’.
My doubt is wether I can find a slot for two people(group appointment) in December. Before cancelling I want to make sure about the availability. Because I hv only one choice to cancel the appointment.

The Info from any of you is most appreciable and greatly helpful.

Thanks

First check the 'Reschedule' option. If you can see available dates under 'Reschedule' link, you can prepone the appt without having to cancel it. If you can't see any dates under 'reschedule' link, it means that you will not find a slot for 2 applicants during the months that you are looking for - even if you cancel your current appt.

I too got the same email fron VFS, but when i checked to reschedule the appointments for my uncle, who has an appointment in Feb, dates were not available. I think we need to wait till they open new dates, but not sure when they are going to open the dates.
I will inform the site, if i notice any available dates

I got the same email too. I believe that the email has been sent from VFS with a GREAT delay before which people have acquired all available dates and thats why we are not able to get earlier dates.
I got the email yesterday but I know that dates were opened for Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb etc timeframe atleast 2 or 3 weeks ago. And now, most of those dates have been booked already. VFS should have sent that email long back, but failed to do so I guess.

Hi,

Jaya garu, after i read the thread that u could reschedule to prior date, I tried to reschedule, but for me only after dates(after my current appt.) were shown. But now if I use reschedule, showing "no dates available".

So only option is cancel and rebook. Now I can almost see full month of dates for both Nov and Dec, but I scared to cancel, coz wether those hv gp. slots or not.

So I just want to make sure that, Does any one took appointment for twopeople for Nov or Dec? And Does any one seen few dates for two while confirming the appointment?

Urgent....plz help me...

Thanks in advance.....

2-3 weeks ago when there were a bunch of appts available, my friend has used the 'reschedule' button on the top right corner to prepone her in-laws appt from 6-Feb-07 to 20-Nov-06. She could 'prepone' without having to cancel the existing appt.

The dates being shown under 'Click here for an estimate of current appt availability' may have not been refreshed (i.e. not up-to-date) and those under reschdule button may be accurate (OR) VFS would have changed the logic on their website to not allow any person to pre-pone.

All: If you have seen 'less' dates or 'no dates available' for Nov-Dec while trying to reschedule for your parents (i.e. group appt), please post here so that others in the same boat could benefit. Thank you.

Hi,
Iam trying to get a telugu appointment for my uncle and aunt. I tried all the options, as Jaya mentioned like rescheduling, and visiting the website to know the available appointment dates, but none worked(dates are not available).
My uncle and aunt had an appointment in feb, so i dont want to cancel their appointment without any available dates.
Hi vsd123, could you please tell me, when you saw the interview dates in Nov-Dec and appointment in which language?
Thanks

Rescheduling without cancelling is not possible. Yes, some people have done it a few weeks ago, but I think VFS system allowed it by mistake and I would say that people who rescheduled to earlier dates during that time were lucky to utilize that. I guess VFS corrected that error and is not letting to pre-pone without cancellation.

mouni : There are no regional lang appts available currently, it always shows "No dates available". I guess you need to wait till they open more slots for regional lang appts. They had opened a while ago for Oct- Mar, but now they are no more. Iam sure the dates that "vsd123" talks about is for English interview. Trying either the "Reschedule" link or the 'Click here for an estimate of current appt availability' link will not show any dates for regional lang because there are really no dates available currently.

Even Iam checking it everyday, will post here if I happen to see dates for regional lang.

I preponed my parents appointment from Jan-30th to Nov-27th 2 weeks back. My dad had to first go to the VFS office (since he booked it offline first) and cancel their existing appointment and then after 8 hours their HDFC Receipt was activated and I could go online and reschedule their appointment to earlier date.

While rescheduling I saw lots of dates available in Oct, Nov and Dec but I did it for Mumbai Consulate, I don't know which Consulate u r trying for.

I called VFS office before rescheduling and they told me that u have to first cancel ur existing appointment to get earlier date.

Hi,
Thanks jobhosale, but I am trying for Chennai consulate.

Hi Mouni, the dates I mentioned were for English language and we can see them while trying through the link "Click here for an estimate of current availability of visa interview appointments." or after some steps of "apply for Non-immigrant visa". So my question is : Can we go ahead and cancel, coz we received e-mail from USVFS and can see dates in Nov/Dec?. My parents appt. is in Feb'07. I am looking for Dec '06.

Yah, I agree with jingles, Some lucky people could be able to utilise the opportunity of rescheduling to prior dates, 2 weeks ago.

Thanks
