passport expiry

I was refused a B1/B2 (Chennai 214b) on my passport which was due to expire in Apr. I have taken a new appointment on the same passport in july(the minimum wait period for a new appointment then was 6 months and reissue of passport takes anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks which would have meant a delay of more than 8 months for a fresh appointment). I could get an appointment for Jan and later renewed my passport. The old passport stands cancelled.VFS website advises to obtain a new passport in case of validity less than 6 m to 1 year, also when contacted VFS says to carry both the old and new passports to the interview.Would they validate the new passport? Has any body encountered any problem at the time of interview (cancellation of appointment etc.) due to this issue

If you have provided all other information in application form, as per the new passport, including the pssport number etc i dont see any problem.
If not, you may need to correct that, call VFS and discuss if this is the case.

all the information entered is as per the old passport. the only addition now is spouse name which was not included in the old one
how do you provide the new passport number to VFS.
They say to take both passports to the interview and explain the same
