While taking the bank account verification letter, can it state the combined savings +checking account's balance or does it have to be stated Explicitly ?

Each bank has a standard format and they prepare it accordingly.
If you can get one with Saving and checking account, that would be better.

It doesn't matter whether you have the money in your savings a/c or the checking a/c. Hence, you don't have to worry about combining them together or keeping them separate. You can write the combined amount in I-134, but the bank letters typically list the accounts separately (in a single letter).
As the bank has to provide the account number and the date the account was opened for each account, they can not combine the amounts and put them under one account number which is illegal.
