Hi,

My in-laws visa was rejected at chennai consulate.
All the documents were in order and based on advise frm path2usa.

Here are the questions asked
- Are you retired : Yes,
- Who else stays at ur home: The 2 of us
- Is she your only daughter : Yes

Then the person said, you do not qualify and visa is rejected. He never looked into any of the documents we sent (all property documents with rent and income + sponsor docs).
He just got up and walked away frm his chair before my in-laws could ask for the cancellation reason.

Pls advise how to go about in the 2nd interview. Should they apply seperately or try again together. What other documents we may need to support.
Can we try in hyderabad consulate this time? any feedback on operations.

Thanks for all the advices in advance..
Mahesh

First of, there is no consulate in Hyderabad. You need to show some strong financial and family ties. Chances are high if one of them intend to apply and visit you.

If you want both of them to visit, just keep trying, there are simillar cases in this forum, look at their experiences

Hi Mahesh,

Are you on H1 or on green card?

I am also in a similar situation, my parents have interview next week, they are retired and I am a only daughter :(

So do they even give a consideration to the fact that the sponsor is on H1 hence parents will return back to India.

Pls let me know.

Thanks.

My parents got rejected visa for the same reasons.
What I notice is visas are not given to retired people
if they dont have dependent persons in India, irrespective
of property.

If your parents can bluff without showing any signs
on face, then I advise you guys to tell that
your grand parents stay with them.

I am going to try this second time.

Do they ask for any proof that grand parents stay with them?

I am on H1, GC doesn't matter I guess, its boils down to family ties and some luck

Lying to the consular officers will only make things worse. Do you honestly think they have not seen or heard the phoney stories before? What if they are asked for a phone number, they make up one and the embassy checks it out and finds out it's bogus? Then what?
Those of you who believe that it is OK to lie should consider visiting a different country.
