Are you applying for a tourist visa? Are you applying along with your parents or are you planning to come to USA alone? Are you married? Do you have kids? What is your age? If you could provide these details, others could analyze and give you a proper advice.

'Youngsters' do not have much chances unless they could show "enough" ties with their home country. Apply for a very short term visa (ex: 1 month) and get a 'leave letter' from your company for 1 month. If the visa officer is convinced that you will definitely come back after 1 month, he may grant you the tourist visa.

Rs10,000/- per month is a decent enough salary in India. Don't convert it into US dollars and think that your salary is very low for tourist visa purposes.

Even if your brother is paying for the trip, even if he is ready to send 2-3 lakhs to you, the visa officer should be totally convinced that you are not a potential immigrant. If your brother is sending you some money, ask him to send well in advance. Visa officers do not like to see 'huge deposits' in your account just 1-2 months prior to the interview.

If you are married and if your wife and kid stay back at India, that itself is a great tie that you could show with India.

You have to prove these two for a tourist visa:

1) You must prove that you will return back to India i.e. you must prove that you have enough ties with India due to which you will return to India after your tour (ex: a home, bank balance, job, wife & kids, any lands/farms/businesses etc)
2) Your brother in USA must prove that he has enough bank balance to take care of all your expenses during your stay in USA.

This is the procedure to apply for a tourist visa:
1) Identify the nearest HDFC bank from this website: https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/ApplnForms/HDFC/HDFCAddressList.aspx
2) Go to the designated HDFC bank and pay Rs.4800 for visa application fee and Rs.281/- for VFS fee. They will give you a receipt with a number on it.
3) Then go to http://vfs-usa.co.in and click on 'apply for a non-immigrant visa' on the top. Fill the application forms and select a date for the interview
4) Just 1-2 months before the interivew ask your brother to send the sponsor documents. You prepare all the documents from your end - like bank letters, property documents, job verification letter, pay checks, your marriage certificate, your daughter's birth certificate, your marriage album/photos/wedding cards etc. You wife and kid will be your biggest reason to come back to India and the visa officer will approve a visa only if he is convinced that you will return to India.

For more information, go to http://vfs-usa.co.in website. Good luck!!
