My parents had 4 months visa stamped on their passport but at the port of entry it was for 6 months, well passed their actual visa on passport. Only issue is that its a SINGLE entry visa. Can I take my parents for the Bahama/ Carribean Cruise and Canada? Since it is a single entry visa I am not sure they would be able to enter US once they leave the US soil. Though their I-94would be valid. Please advise

No, single entry visa does not allow a person to re-enter into USA.

Murali,

Your replies are always very helpful.

My parents are going for an interview at the end of this month and I was hoping to take them to Canada and Bahamas along with the other places that we plan to visit within USA, but never thought about the single vs multiple entry visa issue.

Does it help their chances of 'multiple entry' visa if I mention Canada/Bahamas in the letter to the consulate officer OR ask my father to mention it to the officer?

Any thoughts on this subject?

PS: I would be as thrilled with a 'single entry short term visa' as I would be with a 'multiple entry short/long term visa'. But, just wanted to know the right approach to improve the chances for a multiple entry visa so that they will have more flexibility with their travel in North America.

Thank you,
Jaya.
