Dear All,

My mother got her visitor visa for six months valid june 06 thru' dec '06. Due to some reasons, her trip was delayed and now she will come to US on 25th sep '06.

- Is it advisable to request immigration officer (at port of entry) for extended I94 .i.e till Feb'07 or few months after visa expiry date 07 dec'06. Since, she had not stayed for enter valid period of visa.

I know there is proper process to request for extension. however, would it be advisable to request and get an extended I94 for couple of months at port of entry.

Appreciate your valuable suggestion. Thank you all...

Regards,
Manish

First of all, I94 date( legal allowed time to stay in USA) and Visa stamp expiry are two differnt things ,and YES I94 expirty date can be different and beyond the visa expiry.
In most cases it is 6 months from the date of entry in USA.
Yes your mother can request the officer to make it for 6 months, and officer can surely do that. (You r using wrong term, it is not known as extension.Extension is a formal process of filing application to extend the stay)
Good luck !
