Dear Mr.Razak Shaik,

If u have visited the VFS site recently after 7th Aug ur query no.1 wud not have been there. Please visit www.vfs-usa.co.in as it is very helpful. Please find my response to ur queries:

1)There are two things visa fees(earlier 4600/- now 4800/-)Any receipt taken before 7th is valid and u need not pay any other draft of 200/- if u r going to Mumbai consulate then u have to get the additional draft. This is wat i referred from VFS site.Coming to Visa issuance draft worth 2300/- I have written to VFS and asked if the draft taken before 7th Aug is valid or in this case we need to get a draft of 2400/- only

2) Till the time u get ur petition approved there is no point in filling the forms.U have a HDFC receipt with u now once u enter to fill forms on VFS site it asks u to fill DS-156,DS-157 then petition respectively then after filling all these forms it displays the available date and u got to accept it.Once u don't have ur petition u may fill DS-156,DS-157 but cannot book a date till u have approved petition. However, there is a way suppose ur employer gives u the receipt no of ur petition u may fill the validity based on guess work and get a date.

3)The only forms u need to fillare DS-156,DS-157 and petition. If u have dependent going with u u may opt for option to book the dependents appointment with urs and fll his/her forms as well...

I hope I'm of some help to u

Dear Mr.RazakShaik,

If you go by my personal experience I can tell u that I booked a date for Nov then cancelled it as an earlier date was available.I had to fill all the forms again.Let me tell you how the VFS system works and wat is best for you in my opinion.

1)VFS allows you to change your interview date once and second time if u try to change the date ur receipt will be blocked for 60 days which means u cannot take appoint for 60 days.Mind it that ur receipt is valid for an year.

2)Now that u don't have a valid petition u may booka a date but are u sure that by the time ur interview date come u wll receive the petition. It is solely at ur discretion. It usually takes a petition to get approved by 60-90 days.If there is any additional information required then the petition approval may be delayed.

Wat can be done is u can fill all the forms and keep them ready just save the forms.VFS keeps a saved form only for a week.Suppose u r getting ur petition next week keep the forms ready and as soon as u get ur petition just click the date.It so happens that now the Chennai consulate may show some dates in Feb 2007 but there are cancellations and u will get dates. This way u will be left out with the hassels of refilling all the forms.
