New Visa Fees

FYI: My parents have an interview tomorrow and I called VFS to see if eveything was fine. The asked me if I had paid the Rs 2300 visa fees. I told them that we will be carrying a DD for that amount. She said the fees have changed and we should carry an additional DD of Rs. 100. (Old: 1$=Rs 46, $50= 2300) New Rate: 1$ = Rs48, $50 = Rs 2400. Since we already had a DD of 2300 based on the old rate, I decided to get an additional DD of Rs. 100. I told her that I had made the DD before 7th August. She said it did not matter, I would have to have another DD for Rs 100 based on the new rate.

Yes, you are right. Even though you might have got DD before 7th August and sent to them, it does not matter. You need to carry additional DD of RS 100 per application. If you have not sent the DD to consulate but have already made of RS 2300 then you need to cancel it and get a new DD of RS 2400. Thats bad, but thats what is required.

I was told not to make a complete new one for 2400 but just an extra DD for Rs. 100.

Jaikal is right as per chennai consulate.

Correct me if i am wrong. I don't know which consulate you both belong to.

Hi Saisai,

Yes, I confirmed with Mumbai consulate regarding DD for new Visa Inssuance fees. I called them directly and asked about it.
