H1 Renewal

Please guide me in following case.
My H1 will expire in May 2007.How early I should apply for my renewal?
Also I am starting up green card application,my parents have their interview in January 2007.Is it okay for me to start GC procedure or I should be waiting for them to appear for interview first?

1. Your employer can file for extension 6 months prior to H1 expires.
2. No Probelm, you can apply for GC, it wont have any impact on your Parents visa interview.
