Hi,
I am in the process of applying PIO card for my soon-to-be 3 months son. As I understand Indian Government has also started issuing dual citizenship? Can someone send me some information on this dual citizenship process? Also, which one should we apply for PIO or dual citizenship.?
Thanks,
hipka

India does not issue dual citizenship. The OCI scheme is a lifelong indian visa with permission to reside and work in India. I think it is better than the PIO scheme as OCI has fewer restrictions.

Hello,
Just read your inquiry regarding OCI. I would suggest that you apply for the OCI as its a lifelong stamp on your son's passport. In the case of the PIO card, it will have to be renewed every 15 years. The OCI has more priviledges and benefits than the PIO card holder. It also does not involve registration with the Foreigners Office in India if your stay exceeds 6 months. I would also suggest that you look at all the details and procedures involved at the following website:
http://mha.nic.in/oci/oci-main.htm
Also look at the website of your local Indian Embassy/consulate/high commission in your country of residence.
Hope this is of some help.
