I want to apply for PIO card for my kid at NY Indian Consulate.

On the instructions on how to apply by mail on the consulate website
http://indiacgny.org/php/showContent.php?linkid=58
it is stated that only notarized photocopies have to be sent and not originals.

"
When sending by mail, only notarized copies of the documents that are required to be submitted with the application may be enclosed. Please do not send original documents unless it is required by us and we have specifically asked for it after the submission of the application. The requirements are at How to Apply . "

If anyone has succesfully applied by mail for PIO Card, i request them to share their experiences and if they had sent photocopies or orginals..

I request if anyone has applied in person also to share their experiences, and what documents that had to submit at consulate.

Appreciate anyone's guidance.

well when the website clearly says SEND ONLY NOTRAIZED COPY then whats the confusion? Take copies of your documents or your kids documents and get them notraized. When done send them in mail. If they will have any questions about any of the documents then they may ask for the original.

Here in US a bank manager acts as Notary. So you can take the original to the Bank Manager and get the photocopies notarized.
