my parents has a visitor visa appoinment next wednesday, july 12th, at chennai consulate. I have many concerns regarding the interview,
1) I have a salary of 46, 000 . Is it considered low by the VO. ( I showed bank balance of me (sponsor) = $30,000 ; personal and 401k as $20,000 and life insurance of $50,000)
2) My father in india is showing a bank balance of 4.5L in my fathers and 3.5L in my mothers. But still the VO will ask about my low salary and how can I support them.
3) LAst time they have a rejection, in July 2005. That time We had an interview with a telugu translator. She (translator) told as my father said that he is visiting USA for visiting palces , her reply is like what about the lodging, boarding charges, do u know how much does it cost, who will bear all the expenses , and in the mean time the VO rejected the visa. She was like u will stay at home. In papers u write what others say thats all. But after going to USA u will never go out to visit any places.
4) However, the case is complicated now. We are three sisters. all are here on H1's now. no one has green card. My father is not ready to say any lie. He is telling he will tell that we three are here. So I guess its very hard. But he can show a property worht one crore in Inidia. Is it a good tie?
5) Please let me know how can we present our case, in a best way. As i know my parents will go back, but how the VO will get convinced. And money wise I have no problem. I can support them. But what are the facotrs VO observe when they see the I 134 and DS 156:confused:

The biggest factor in the interview is fear. If you show your fear this will create doubts in counselor mind. My father went for interview and counselor asked him "why are you going to US" . he said "i want meet my son". second question "Where in US are you going". His answer "No idea, but i can give his phone number to you."
That’s all. no property papers , no sponsorship paper...visa granted.
Only confidence..
Just ask your parents to show them that we are not interested to go to US, just wanna see how our kids are doing there..
and on the safer side if they show big savings in account, like you said one crore is plus point.
 By the way how you save 30000$ from your 46000$ salary:eek:

thank you for the reply, vinney.
i am working since three and half years, and these savings are since 2003, january. can we answer the same when the visa officer expresses his doubt. I sent them a summary of one year bank account.
and my father can show only property in one crore, but not any big amount in savings. in savings we have less than ten lakhs. what is the min. amount to be shown?

I agree with Vinney, to have confidence and speaking without any doubts is the key. Please dont persuade your papa to lie..no reason to.
You said all you 3 sister's are here. I have seen friends of mine, who are siblings sent papers of support documnetation together. Even in some posts here i read that. Maybe that'll help.
Dont feel so hesitant about your annual income, that's more than enough. In the interview the driving factor i noticed from other posts is "What will make the applicant return back from US" ?
Prep your folks with the interview questions, mostly they'll look at DS156, 157 and 134, that's all they look at. The rest if supplemental.
Good luck !

hey please suggest on " purpose of visit" in DS 156
we are three here and elder daughter with her husband
1) Pleasure trip and visit my daughter ( daughter is only me the sponsor we are prepred to say all three children are here)
2) Pleasure trip and visit my daughters. ( meaning all three)
3) Plesure trip and visit my children.
4) Pleasure trip and visit my daughters and son in law. My (elder )sisters husband.
As they see the VO will feel all are here and potential immigrants are its better to mention as choice (4) to be clear and consistent , if later on in the interview if my parents heppen to mention about my sister and her husband.
