Does US cordless telephones work well in India? I bought a Sony 900 MHz cordless phone from Circuitcity
I am planning to take it to India for my brother.
My question is:
Is there any problem using it in India?
I think, I need to only buy a voltage converter which converts 220V to 110V & plug the phone power cord into that, Correct?
Are the telephone jacks same in India and US or Do I need to buy something for that?
Please advice soon.

Its works fine.
Only thing you need a "New Adopter" (as per suitable Volt) in india itself.that would cost you around 25-30Rs.
So Dont use the Adapter , which comes with phone , Buy a new one in india for the same outputput voltage.(I guess its 12V. DC)
You dont need converter.

In India they use a different system for caller id. So US cordless phones will not display caller id if u take them to India. My suggestion - Buy a cheap caller id box in India to substitute for the caller id on the phone. Or better still if u hav a stop over in Dubai buy the phone there itself. Believe me its cheap there too!!!

Yeah almost all the cordless phones work in India. All you would need is a power adapter which can be bought for like 100-300rs depending on where you live.
i have taken Uniden,Panasoni,Sony and toshiba..All of them work well. But becareful of the batteries. All of them work good for abt an year and the replacement batteries bought from india dont work for more 3months(Even branded ones).

USA Europe phones requires converter to function properly in India, as Netherlands, Saudi, India ... use DTMF technology and US, EU phones are FSK type
I've new most demanding ex220 caller ID converter to sell for $25 which cost $40 in market, can dispatch to US or Canada address currently (email me if you want in india we can work out and I may visit India), it does wonderful job of having proper caller id, time stamp & set your area code so you can call back, new features equipped with hi-tech phones.
Email me zintel23 at gmail.com if you want to buy you can pay by paypal or check. Its worth having this unit, I'm using one works excellent.
So do not leave any Hi-tech from phones from US / Europe now!!! and keep upgrading your Indian phone in future with this lifelong converter unit.
