Hi ppl i am very new to this forum. i will appreciate any help. here goes my problem.
I am getting married this Year, my fiancé is already working in US on L1, I also have applied for H1 hopefully which will be approved & stamped by Yearend.
Now I cannot apply Visitor Visa for my mother before i go to US and work there for few months and sufficient bank balance n stuff to sponsor her Visa. BUT Can my Wife do it immediately after marriage?? As she is staying in US for a about an year now. So can she sponsor her Mother-In-Law's Visa immediately after marriage??
One more thing My Mother is 56 & Single parent so is that a problem in getting a visitor visa, -to show strong ties in India etc. Any Tips&Tricks really appreciated.

yes. Your wife can sponser your mother's visa provided she can show that she can support your mother.
It's a bit difficulat for single mothers to get Visa, but not impossible. I have seen many previous experiences where they succeeded to get visa for their single parents. Please do a search.

I don't agree with sthota. when he says that it is a bit difficult for single mothers to get tourist visas, it is very discouraging. i will tell you what, i have been in this country for more than a decade and have many of my relatives here. i have seen that one thing is very consistent, if you have all your papers in place, you answer confidently and show very strong reasons to come back to india and other sponsorship documents in place, then you really reduce the chances of visa rejection to a great extent. you have to have all the necessary papers in place. and don't worry about single parents and all that. if you do everything right, your mom will surely get the visa.
best,
-Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I know it's discouraging but if you go through the previous stamping experiences, you will come to know how true is it.
I also read on murthy site how they deal with many of such cases where windowed parents are denied visa by. please google for that link.

sthota,
i don't want to argue with you. you have your viewpoints, i am mine. don't tell me about google.com and murthy.com, i have done much more than that, having stayed here for more than 10 years, applying for greencard under EB1 and all that.
what i am trying to say is that one should not start expecting a bad result even before trying. i have seen many single parents and widows who have got their visas successfully and at the same time, there are many couples who have been denied their visas. so please spare this guy, who wants to apply for a tourist visa for his mom. i am sure if he prepares all the papers well and his mom answers all the questions truthfully and confidently, she will get the visa.
so please let us not discuss about these widow cases and all that. let her just try. OK??

I too don't want to argue with someone who keeps blabbering everyday that he stayed 10 years in US and knows everything under the sun.
Please read my posts carefully. Where did I discourage the original poster anywhere.
Though I said that it's a *bit* difficult to get visa, I also said that
I have seen many previous experiences where they succeeded to get visa for their single parents. Please do a search.
How much dose of discouragement do you see here
>> i have seen many single parents and widows who have got their visas successfully and at the same time
This is what exactly I'm saying. once again please read my post carefully.
I have a single parent for myself and discouraging someone is the last one I would do.
>> i am sure if he prepares all the papers well and his mom answers all the questions truthfully and confidently, she will get the visa.
Me too sure he will succeed with good preparation. I'm just trying to tell him to be more cautious.
>>what i am trying to say is that one should not start expecting a bad result even before trying.
no question of negative attitude here.
Now please stop telling me that you stayed 10 years in US, don't use google, don't trust immigration sites, going to be president of US next year etc crap.
Cheers
