Hi, We have booked return tickets for our parents which amounts to 183 days as opposed to 180 days. Will that be a problem at POE Newark when they first come in. They have a 10yr visa. Also, what questions are asked at POE? PLease reply soon as they are scheduled to leave india on the 2nd of June. Thanks in advance!

Okay, you may not need to show your return ticket at the POE. But it’s not good for next trip because at the POE your parents will get I-94 valid up to 180 days and if they are not returning within 1-94 validity period then it’s illegal by law unless you take i-94 extension. So bottom line is they may go back this time smoothly but next time they will definitely get problem.

I concur with the previous post - U must depart prior to expiry of the i94.
If u overstay even by a single day , then it may cause problems later.
U wld need to file extension request using form i539 prior to expiry of the i94 that u get at the POE in case u want to stay beyond the date on i94.
