TV sets: US to India

Hi,

Will TVs purchased here in the States work in India? I mean, there are any number of differences: format (NTSC/PAL), frequency (50/60), HD, and what not.

Could anyone let me know what points I should keep in mind when purchasing a large-screen TV here?

I know its a really basic question and I was sure it must have already come up and been answered before, but I couldn't find it here.

I don't think they will work

USA has NTSC video system and India has PAL system

also the power /voltage difference , unless you put a transfarmer or buy a TV whcih is 220 V compitable power input.

Ouch.

That's not good to hear, but I guess I'll have to live with it. Maybe I'll settle for a reasonably inexpensive large-screen TV, instead of all-the-bells-and-whistles models I've been looking at so far.
