Hey guys

I had very bad experience with customs in India. Police and customs officers surrounded me and asked for bribe openly. They wanted dollar at any cost. They were giving all kinds of stupid reasons to get money..I just scared and had to give some money..It was bad experience.

It happend with me too at Mumbai airport, It was more frustating when I said "according to rule- this is what I can carry" ...the officer turned wild and embarassed. Then started troubling me with all possible way BUT I didnt pay a Penny..Overall it was bad experience though

If you dont have anything to declare why worry ? you can talk with the custom officers and dont get frightened or show any such signs on your face they will try to harras you for some time and let you go but will try there best to get out dollars from you if you dont get frustated u win , if u r landing for first time in mumbai and dont know the behaviour of customs u r screwed basically u should be a good patience negotiator

But if you have something to declare and you dont want to pay the duty also and dont want to bribe the customs also well u cannot take it free

One thing which works for me in my past ~15 trips in 10 years is be confident and challeng them. If you appear to be scared, they will try to scare you more and get $. I've never paid bribe to customs a$$**les

even I had the same experience with mumbai...they really create problems.
All of us are thinking of being confident,acting not to be scared etc..

when we land mumbai we are in a different mood ,and moreover if this happens to us its some what better and we know how the system is.

but if this happens to some foriegners it might lead to some other impressions.

dont know when these type of things will end..
