My parents visa got rejected at kolkata consulate. they had visited US in 2003 and went back within 6 months. this time, the lady was insisting on "that you are not going for tourism, you are going to spend time with your son and grand daughter." our daughter is now 4 months old.. they did not grant the visa saying that there is no guarantee that you would come back in 6months. what should we say as"purpose of trip".. should we stick to tourism or should they ask for 1 month saying reason for trip is to "attend grandadaughter's rice feeding ceremony and grandparents are needed for that". any suggestion would be very welcome. thanks.

Franly no matter what reason you give the visa grant is determine by the overall situation. the key is interview and how confidently and smartly they answer the questions.
I would say give the right reson also make sure your parents knows and answer according to the information supplied in the documents and there should not be any descrepencies in that.
