In the list of documents that the sponsor needs to send, it states
"Original birth certificate of the sponsor child ( son or daughter) is required.
Note: if you are inviting your in-laws , then spouse's birth certificate is required not yours. "
I orginally confused it to be the birth certificate of my son, which did not make sense. But anyway re-reading it I understand that child here is from the perpective of the visitors (my parents or in-laws in this case).
It says original birth certificate of the spouse is needed. Did anyone have any problems sending in a photocopy. I am not comfortable sending in my wife's original birth certificate by postal mail from US. All other docs are photocopies, some original letter head letters from employer/banks etc. So I don't care if these get lost, but if the birth certificate get's lost, that's a hassle.
Also my wife's original birth certificate does not her name listed (welcome to India), so last time we went to India, we got an affidavit executed by her parents showing she is the daughter, as the state she is from, they gave a letter stating they cannot add the name now, as it's been too long and as per that state's law, they cannot add anyone's name after 15 years.
So essentially her birth certifcate now runs 4 to 5 pages, and I was not sure AAA would notarize it, as one of the pages, is the Indian stamp paper. I am getting stressed out here, as this could be an important document linking my in-laws to my wife and hence to me, the sponsor. Without this there is no other document to indicate they are infact my inlaws.
Comments/Experiences/Suggestions...anyone.
