Hi, I am applying a tourist visa to the US. My boyfriend (US citizen) sent me an invitation letter but I am not sure if it is a good idea to show it to the officer. Although the invitation letter does not state that he is my boyfriend (more like a co-worker because we met while we worked together), I worried that it may reduce the chance because it shows that I have a fairly good relationship with someone in the UK.

Ideas? please!

While I understand your concern I dont think thats th eonly reason for any negetive impact on your visa grant as long as you can show strong ties back to your home country and valid reason to come back after your short stay in US.
Prepare well for interview , thats the key

good luck !

Thanks...I have just returned from the interview. The officer did not ask much actually and granted me one year, multi-entry visa.

Happy ending...!

:-)

This forum is great!

Hi, I just joined in and I have the similar problem, only my visa request was denied on April 2006, I got 214(b) and my passport stamped "application received."
My boyfriend gave me an invitation letter and sponsorship, but the officer denied my visa and he kept my boyfriend's invitation letter and my reference letter from office. Is that normal?
Now, I just want to visit my boyfriend and to apply for an K-1 visa is just too much..I want to apply again, how long should I wait?
I'm thinking to apply this Mid-late June, but with another sponsor from my cousin in another state, do u think it would be a problem?

@Zephy, can u give me more details on how to answer the officer question regarding realtionship with boyfriend?

Any input will be very appreciated. Thanks :)
