How to schedule an appointment by retrieving a saved application?

Hi,

I think this forum is extremely useful, congrats to the folks running it. By a quick browsing of the already posted messages, I could not find an anwer to the following question.

How to schedule an appointment by retrieving a saved application? I have an appointment (for my parents) in the 1st week of oct, and I want to reschedule to an earlier date.

Can somebody give a step by step process of how to go about doing this? I know the first step is to cancel the existing appointment. But I dont want to cancel without knowing the complete step by step process and the time required to complete it. I dont want to risk losing this appointment. Do I need to fill in the forms again even though they are saved online when canceling and scheduling again?

Hi,

For the same kind of question I posted, one of the forum member answered that we will loose the existing appointment date if we try for rescheduling the appointment.

Applicants with an appointment will no longer be able to change their appointment to an earlier date without first canceling their current appointment and re-entering the information on their application. Applicants will still be able to use the original receipt number to make the new appointment. Those applicants who desire to delay a scheduled visa interview will still be permitted to make a one time change to a later date by using the reschedule/cancel link on the home page.

-You cannot reschedule to an earlier date without cancelling your existing appointment. You can reschedule only ONCE if you want to postpone your trip.

- If you see dates available then go a head and cancel the existing appointment and go over everything again. Do not cancel if you don't see more than 2 dates. If you miss, the current dates are only for Nov last week(chennai consulate).
