Hi ,
I took a web appoinment for my parents . While filling the D-156 for my dad instead of 4th Jan the date of birth was entrered as 6th Jan . I verified the info twice . I think I used arrow keys incorrectly. When I checked with VFS they asked us to go ahead and check with Visa officer. I don't want to take chances . Can we use manullay filled D-156 and D-157 for both even though I took the appointment over the web. Has anybody did use like this without any problem. They have the appoinment on 25th please advice ASAP.
Thank you

You can correct/update some fields. If you cannot then print a new form and fill in everything again. That shld be okay.

When my mom went for her visa, she saw a couple who was given a new form to fill everything since their original form was not readable.

Thank you Saisai. As it’s related to date of birth I am worried .Is the information I entered on VFS site going to create any problem . If we print the form, from web it’s creating a bar code with HDFC receipt number. Obviously we don’t have this for manual one. Do you know what is the purpose of this code.
Thank you so much.

Th purpose of the barcode is that they scan this and put all the info in their system.
You can click on the following site and download a new form and ask your parents to take a new form......When you fill up the form, it will save the file in a pdf format with a barcode. The officer can scan this barcode. There is absolutely no problem in taking a new form.

Thank you Ibedback.
But I have a question. How does this technology works ? May be there is connection between VFS database and consulate database to retrieve the info based on the barcode. But the above link is from a different website. Then how the consulate officer can retrieve the info based on the barcode . I am asking so many questions as my parents visa got rejected twice in 2002 . They are appearing third time now as I badly need their help for my delivery.
Has anybody ever used the website https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp?lang=1 without any issues. Please update.
Many thanks

I had a similar issue. I enetered my Moms date of birth incorrectly. I printed the form and then manually corrected the date of birth (bu using correction fluid and overwriting with black pen). The interview went well and they got the visa. The officer did not even notice the correction or ask any questions. However, when she got the visa the date of birth on her visa was the one that I had incorrectly enterted. It seems like the information for the visa is picked up from what we enetr in the database. Finally my dad had to get the error corrected on the visa by visting the Delhi embassy again. Seems like there are windows (no. 5 and 6) that are earmarked for correting errors on the visa. My dad gave the passport for correction of visa and collected it the next day.
Long story short, even if you use a manual form it would be better to mention to the visa officer that a typo was made and that they should correct their database.
