Hi Folks

I am new to the forum so please bear with me. My parents are headed to Chennai consulate to get a visitor's visa in June and I had some questions. Hope to get some answers. I am a GC holder

1. My mom had been in the US visa 20 years ago after rejected once. But she does not recall why it was rejected & there is no mention of it in her passport. Should I mention this?

2. Both me & one of my brother's are in the US and an other one is in UK. Would that in any way be reason for rejection? Will a notarized Charted accountant's statement showing my dad's financial independence be enough to convince the Visa officer?

3. How recent does the financial statements have to be? Is it okay if I send statements from March or does it have to be as close to the date as possible? Is it okay if the statement reflects a joint account with my wife?

4. Is W-2 enough or does one need both Federal & state Tax forms that were filed?

5. In form 157, they ask Education background of the applicants. How far does one need to mention? Does it have to include the exact dates all the way to grade1 ?

Any feedback/info would help.

Yes, mention abt the rejection.

2. Both me & one of my brother's are in the US and an other one is in UK. Would that in any way be reason for rejection? Will a notarized Charted accountant's statement showing my dad's financial independence be enough to convince the Visa officer?

Even parents with one child got visa. So your brother in UK sld not be a peoblem. CA statement of your dad's finance is enuf. and other supporting docs (just in case if the VO asks for any proof).

3. How recent does the financial statements have to be? Is it okay if I send statements from March or does it have to be as close to the date as possible? Is it okay if the statement reflects a joint account with my wife?

Why can't it be May if you have not sent the docs yet?
Joint a/c - not a problem

4. Is W-2 enough or does one need both Federal & state Tax forms that were filed?

W-2 is fine, but include these tax forms if you have them in-hand. I sent everything.

5. In form 157, they ask Education background of the applicants. How far does one need to mention? Does it have to include the exact dates all the way to grade1 ?

Mention the highest earned edu.

Good Luck!
