Yesterday my In Laws went to Mumbai consulate to get Visitor's visa.
My Father in law has been here twice some 15 years ago and he also had a greencard thru his elder brother who is a citizen right now. The GC is expired now though.
The same brother who had previously sponsered my FIL for immigration visa (some 15yrs ago), sponsered him this time as well. They had prepared all the documents well and we had also sent our info (mine and my wife's) to them for Visa. As my father in law had GC previously and he didn't stay here in his youth, we thought it would be easier for him to get visa because when he didn't stay here when he had time and chance why would they deny visa him now.
But we were wrong. They just refused the visa.
They just asked 3-4 Q
1) how many children you have
2) where are they and what are they doing (Before my FIL mentioned about my wife, they said your one daughter is in US, right?)
3) what is your income?
4) who is sponsering you?
Ans: - my elder brother (and he showed Affidavit of support).
That's all.
My FIL used the translation service (as my MIL can't speak english well). And there were just too many people in that lane.
I just can't understand what went wrong.
Anyone had the same experience?
Any idea about what might have went wrong?
I am wondering had it been a different situation, had i sponsered them?
Your suggestions/feedback will greatly help.
Senior guys; Murali & others... please advise.
