I got a parking ticket of 200$ at a mall in New Hampshire. I parked in the handicaped zone. The zone was not clearly marked and there were no blue or white stripes indicating the zone. Plus it was Dec 23rd and the mall was jam packed. People parked their cars on curbs and everywhere you can see. It was a real parking problem plus there are more than one cars parked in the zone.
I am fighting the case and I agree that it was my mistake but 200$ is way too much.
Any advice for the case ??
Thanks,

Handicaped parking tickets are always expensive. In California you would pay $371 (NH is cheaper in that respect). This ticket is expensive for a reason. If it was not expensive, everybody would take a chance and park in handicapped parking. If it is bad luck, he/she would probably pay only $15 or $25. That's not fair. The real victim would be the handicapped people who won't be able to park in their designated parkings.
So I don't think you can argue about this ticket being expensive - whether it's in court or in administrative review. Once you admit that you parked in handicapped parking, knowlingly or unknowlingly, you have pay the price of the ticket, no matter what.
If you think the parking was not properly marked, go back to the parking place and take some pictures from various angles. Then show it to court or send those pictures with the review appeal letter (I don't know appeal/contest procedure in NH). If judge/reviewer feels that the parking was not properly marked, he/she will void the ticket.

Unlike India, you cannot say, "Arey ghalti ho gayee boss. Ab jaane do."
If you parked knowingly in a handicapped space, your "the mall was
jampacked" argument simply will not work. Try proving that the
space was not clearly marked. If there was snow on the ground, you
can use that to your advantage.
