I am a student in Canada , and I have finished my program . I got accepted for the fall semester in an American institution , and I need to go back to my homeland KSA to issue a VISA to the USA . I wanted to send my car to the states with a shipping company , and I paid the company to pick my car from the US-Canada border . I gave authority to a friend who has a valid visa to both countries to drive my car through to the US border , and come back to Canada via a taxi cab , and notarized the authorization document at a lawyers office in Canada . I also Included the Original title which was purchased from the USA less than a year ago when I was in the states . I also Included valid tags , and a valid license plate that was American .
At the end long story made short , the US customs , and immigration personell made fun of us that we are willing to send my car to the states to a friend in the state I got accepted in , and rejected our entry at the port.
They mentioned that since I am not in the states I can not send my car to the states prior to my arrival.
The one thing in mind that is extremely annoying is I can not enter the states now since I do not have a VISA , and by the time I get my US visa I will not have a valid Canadian VISA .
SO how will I be able to send my car to the States ?
Almost all the shipping companies only ship only within the 50 states after 9-11!! it would be a bit hard to find a reasonable shipping company from Canada to the states even though I live very very close to the border.
I really have a very good feeling that I did everything legally 100% .
They wasted our time , and effort with un-educated immigration officers.
I wish I would know the exact procedures to get my car to the USA .
And did the officers have the right to send me back ???
