Hi,
I am in process of changing employers in US. I have a few queries regarding the H1B Visa transfer process.

1) After I apply for transfer, when can I safely tell the old company that i am leaving.
2) Can my old employer stop my visa tranfer in any way?
3) After I get my transfer approval, when i go to india do i have to get new stamping, even though, the visa stamped on my passport for old company is still valid?
4) Can the stamped visa be cancelled by my old company if I get a transfer approval?

I would be greatful if anyone can reply to my queries.

Thanks,
Cnatra

1. genreally once you get the notice of receipt of the case filing from USCIS.
2. No
3. not necessary, but depends on other facts.
4. No.( Visa stamp belongs to the pasport holder)

Thanks a lot Murali. Your replies were a great help.

Regarding the 4th point about wether I need to get a new stamp or not, if i visit india after i have got my approval notice, you said it depends on other factors. Can you tell me what are the other factors?

under ac21 u can travel on valid visa from previous employer and new employer's approved petition. (u can find more info in the ac21 guide on uscis.gov)
if u filed for transfer while u were in valid h1 status u can use the old stamp to travel and re-enter if u have the new i797
