US Citizen staying more than 6 Months in India with Visitor visa

Hello Gurus,
Can anyone guide me, what needs to be done, if my daughter, who is a US Citizen stays in India on a vistors visa for more than 6 Months. I believe we have to do some sort of report to Police. If anyone has done this in the past please advice what step needs to be done? Urgent.

My daughter who is a US citizen was in INDIA for 8 months. First when i applied for INDIAN visa i applied for Entry visa (i think visa type Called as "X") after she reached INDIA one of my family members went Police comissioner office in Bangalore and reported to the dept in a prescribed format with her photo attached to the application.
They will make an entry in thier book and ack the application or they will give phot copy of application with ack. You may need to show this on return but do not give to immigration officer or discard it i think it is valid for 5 years.
