hello

My inlaw went for visa 2 days back and they asked him to come back the next day with a Rs 3000 DD which he got. They took his finger prints completely and told him that his passport would be sent to US to FBI for verification and he would get it back after 6 weeks !!!

Can anyone let me know what's happening here ??? ! would really appreciate your reply.

Shankar

There are some formalities that they have to do , specially after 911 and biometerics visa ,the finger print do get verified with FBI database and some times even name check.
It is quite possible that they said finger print would to to FBI and your in-laws may have overheard or got confused with Passport.
If there is nothing wrong then you dont have to worry. the asked them to come back with Visa isuence fee draft that itself is postive sign of their visa grant.

I am in the same situation. My dad got the visa but they had some problem with my mom's fingerprints. They told that embassy her after about 4 weeks. I am not sure how the process works. If you know more, please let me know. The questions I have are:

1. How would embassy contact her? By phone, letter......??

2. What are the chances?

Thanks

Has anyone else been asked back for full fingerprints to FBI? Can you please share how long it took for the "approval letter" to come to you? I am really curious for the timeline.
